Many of you may know by now that I have more than just one love. Digi Scrapbooking is my love for sure, I will never leave it, hehe... BUT I do LOVE beauty products, Make Up, and Nails.
I have gotten so many questions on Facebook, about my nails, that I decided I would start posting little tutorials here on my blog.
I would really love to tape tutorials and post them in video format too.... we shall see if I can get a camera set up, and find time to learn how to edit video.
Until then, I will start posting pictures and small tutorials.
I also just signed up for BirchBox, and expect my first Box to arrive this month! So I will post reviews on Beauty products as well.

Get Real...Confession time...I'm a Gleek!

I remember the exact day it happened.... Easter 2011, we all gathered at my wonderful sister Julies house. After indulging on an amazing meal, and unable to move much further than from the table to the couch, we all plopped in front of the TV. After 10 minutes of channel surfing Kayla (my lovely niece) went to her room and brought out her Complete Season 1: Glee Dvd collection. I smiled on the outside, but on the inside I rolled my eyes.... I have tried to watch this show and I just didn't get it. I found it lame, corny, and slightly annoying. But my sister insisted, "You have to watch it!! You will love it!!" About once a month she would ask me, "Did you start watching Glee yet??!!" And I would always answer with... "umm, not yet, I tried a few times but I could never even get through a full episode." She would sigh and tell me how great it was and how she KNEW I would love it.

Now Easter Sunday, the time had come, they had stuffed me with delicious food and trapped me, sinking into a comfy couch. I was not going anywhere. Kayla put on episode 1...... and guess what before I knew it I was bopping my head along with the music and laughing out loud! OMGoodness... I really like this show!
Episode 2 (omg Mr.Schuester's wife Teri is going to fake her pregnancy? Is Quinn really a bad bad girl?),
Episode 3 (um the Acafellas are dorks, I hope this "boy band" doesn't last long. Emma is so cute, I just love her!) and then a break for Easter Egg Hunt....

Back to the Glee marathon!
Episode 4 (wow Quinn is preggers! But is the baby Finns or Pucks?)
How could I just go home and not find out what happens to the Glee Club? Thank goodness Kayla insisted I take home her Season 1 DVD collection!

Throughout the Easter Break we were stuck inside due to rain every day, perfect Dvd watching weather. My kiddos and I all cuddled up in my bed and watched episode after episode.

Over the following weeks we finished Season 1, purchased all the season 1 music on iTunes-

Of course had to get the Glee app for my iPod

And guess what arrived in the mail yesterday....

Yep- I admit it... It is time for me to Get Real about my Glee addiction. I'm a Gleek.

How to make a blog roll

I recently got asked in my blog comments- How to make a blog roll box.
This is a box the someone can take premade html code and simply copy and paste it anywhere, and the image, blinkies, link list, will show up on the site they are posting.

Examples-
Do you have a blinkie blog roll that you would like to offer in coded html so that others can easily just snag the code and copy it to a list of linked blinkies on their own blog?

If so a scrolling box containing the encoded htlm is what you need.
Now I am no expert... but this should work for you :)

Now on to the tutorial-

1. We will need a VERY useful site I use often for all the encoding and decoding-
http://centricle.com/tools/html-entities/ I recommend bookmarking this one! It is so helpful!!

Anytime you need to show the code format you can copy html and paste it into a box on the above site, then click the encode button. It will then Encode your html so that the code looks like html. If you try to copy and paste an html code without Encoding it- it will just show the item (image) it will not show the code.

2. We need is the scroll box- without a scroll box the coding would take up A LOT of space!

5. To wrap it all up....

Open up a text document or editor to write up your code for your blog roll.
Take the code template for the scroll box- copy and paste it to your editor.
Take the code template for a linked image.
Fill in the blanks with the link and the image code.
Take the completed image html code- copy and past it into the BOX HERE and click Encode.
Copy the Encoded code and Paste it into the Spot in the scroll box template "INSERT HTML THAT HAS BEEN ENCODED HERE" (remember to remove the INSERT HTML THAT HAS BEEN ENCODED HERE text- so it doent show up in your blog roll)
Now repeat until your blog roll is complete.
Once your whole blog roll code is done- copy and past it into a html widget and tadaa :) you can take a look at my blog to see an example of the finished product. As well as what the blog roll itself will look like.

Here is a little about her in her own words :)

"My name is Teri (Teri's Thing-O-My-Jigs) and I am a Scrap-A-Holic. No really, I am! I love the creativity and the instant gratification of designing. I find inspiration in my everyday life activities. I really try to think who, and how, would people use my designs. My kits are usually very full because I like to have a lot of choices when I am scrapping. While I love to add new, current things to my kits, I also like to add enough traditional things to keep a good balance there too.! A few months ago, I discovered my alter design mode and Hybrid-Licious was born! It's my "Sasha Fierce" I love to try and create, usable hybrid projects and hope to see this side of my designing really expand. That is who I am as a designer, but who I am as a person is completely different. I am a wife, mother, grandmother ( they call me Gramsie ) and a 15 year breast cancer survivor. Welcome to Gingerscraps' first ever Word on the Street Game!

Here's how it works:

Somewhere on this blog I have hidden a secret letter and you have to find it! This letter makes part of a secret 9 letter word. It is ALMOST time!!! GingerScraps will be up and running in the next few hours!

One BIG change is that this blog - it will be my personal blog now.

There will be a new GingerScraps site blog. My wonderful CT - is going to have fun stuff going on all the time at the new GS blog.
Jillian is taking charge and she has all sorts of fun plans!!

Just letting you all know I have NO idea why HostMonster shut me down. I am working on it now.
I have heard stories in the past of them shutting sites down for using too much space- like for the gallery, store etc... But the reason I even signed up with HostMonster was because they advertise UNLIMITED space.

Sometimes the mojo goes away and I can't make a decent layout to save my life. That is when I turn to templates. Templates always bring my mojo back, so I have decided to share some of my favorite layouts with you!

I have included a shadowed and and non-shadowed version of each layout in a PSD file and a full sized JPEG file for you to build your layout on top of if you can't open PSD files. I have also included a jpeg of what my shadow settings are in case you want to recreate them yourself!

Boot Camp Graduation!!

A big congrats to all the wonderful ladies that finished boot camp!!! Great job!
I wanted to show off all your amazing skills, so I asked your Drill Sergeants to go pick their favorite LO you did from boot camp. AMAZING work ladies!!! Check them out.
Now all the grads get to continue to Officers Training School!

What is your name and your Digi-scrap blog address?

Tell us a little bit about your family.
I have 2 kids. Samara is soon to be 6 and Maddox soon to be 2. Their birthdays are only 3 days apart! I am also engaged to my fiance, TJ and we have been together all in all about 6 years. We love to do stuff outside together and go to the drive in movies in the summer.

What other hobbies do you have besides designing and scrapping?
What hobbies? J/K! I like photography a lot and have been learning how to shoot in different and interesting ways-or I hope anyways! And I love to read as well. The last book I read was The Host by Stephanie Meyer, who also wrote the Twilight series. And yes, I read all of them too! I'm also a sucker for the Harry Potter books, which I've read multiple times!

How did you get started designing and scrapping?
I just thought it was cool and I wanted to know how it was done just for the sake of knowing. I flipped on the scanner and started scanning things I found in my daughter's room. I didn't know anything about blending modes or layer styles! I colorized a blanket and thought that would be my paper. Little did I know!

How long have you been designing?
Sometime around the middle of 2008

Which programs do you use to design?
Adobe Photshop CS4 and ArtRage

Do you draw most of your items with a mouse, hand draw and scan, or do you use your camera?
I use my camera A LOT and I have been trying to do some more hand drawing. My mouse and I are good friends : )

Where does your inspiration usually come from?
I'm not sure. I just think up stuff I guess! I like to daydream a lot, and I do my best thinking in the bathtub.

How did you pick your design name?
I wish I would have picked something more clever! But everywhere I go, I somehow always end up getting called Miss Erin. So I figured why not?

Who are your favorite three designers?
Mimilou Designs, Chrisscrap, and Melancolie, all designers at my fav store, Scrapmalin. Well ok, 2nd fav next to Gingerscraps!

What is your favorite part of a kit to design?
Papers

What is the weirdest thing you have used as a texture?
Hmmm, an old wore out sheet pan!

What is your favorite kit that you have designed?
I really like this free kit called Wonderland that I did for free, it's on my blog HERE.

What is your least favorite?
Everyone else seems to like it a lot, but Remember the Best Dreams is so NOT my fav!

How do you get started on a kit? Palette first? Rough idea on what you want your papers or elements to look like?
An idea for a theme, then the colors and ideas for elements come next. I make a list!

How long does it typically take you to make a kit?
Depends on how inspired I get or how much time I have. Anywhere from a couple days to a few weeks. And I have a whole folder of unfinished kits!

If you could change one thing about yourself what would it be?
I wish I didn't talk so much, but I just can't help myself! I am cursed with word vomit!

What is the one word that best describes you?
Free spirited-ok that's two words, but I couldn't think of a one word equivalent.

Who is the most important person in your life?
2 people-my kids

What is something that not many people know about you?
That despite my social butterfly-ness, I really do like to be alone sometimes. I was always a loner when I was a kid. My brother is 7 years younger than me so we didn't have too much in common. I spent many hours in my room creating elaborate Barbie houses out of cardboard boxes!

If you could travel anywhere where would you go?
Ireland, I think it would be pretty there and it has a great history.

When you were little what did you dream of being when you grew up?
A singing superstar!

What do you like doing with your family?
Playing softball, going on nature hikes, drive in movies, camping, fishing...well anything outdoors anyways.

Where is your favorite place to be?
There is a state park not far from where I live. You walk a mile long trail to get to the big waterfalls. I love going there, it never gets old.
